ADA Services At PrideFest
Capital City Pride is for the entire rainbow community, including those with disabilities or mobility issues! Below are some of the ways we are working to make sure everyone has a great time at PrideFest!
Staffed ADA Hospitality and Lounge Hours:
Friday, June 6: 5pm-9pm
Saturday, June 7: 10am-6pm
Sunday, June 8: 9:30am-1pm
ADA Lounge and Cool-Down Space. Drop by the ADA Lounge during the open hours listed above. This is your one-stop-shop for any needs you have. We are here to be your hospitality experts! The lounge is located at E. 6th and Locust where we will have an air conditioned booth with some comfortable seating if you just need a place to rest for a bit!
ADA Parking. If you have a mobility issue and need a close parking space, the ADA Parking Lot is for you. This lot will have an attendant and is located at the Iowa State Bank building, 627 East Locust Street (see map below). A golf cart will be there and able to provide extra transportation for you from the lot to the festivities.
Noise-Reduction Headphones. We know that festivals can be loud and overstimulating. Drop by the ADA Hospitality Booth (at E. 6th and Locust) to check out a pair of noise-reducing, over-the-ear headphones.
Screen-Reader-Friendly PrideFest Guide. Access this screen-reader-friendly version of our festival schedule, stage schedule, and more.
ADA Stage Viewing Area. Located on the Iowa State Historical Society Plaza, you will find a gated ADA viewing area designed to provide excellent sight lines to the Iowa IV Main Stage performances!
ADA Parade Viewing Area. Located at the corner of E. 6th and Grand, you will find a large ADA viewing area on Sunday, June 8th for the Capital City Pride Parade presented by Veridian Credit Union.
Just for Kids! On Saturday from 1pm – 4pm in our Family and Youth (corner of E. 2nd and Locust), there will be a special 20×20 tent called the Family and Teen Zone Calming Space. Hosted by ChildServe, a specialty pediatric healthcare provider, this space will provide an option for children with autism or sensory processing needs and their families to take a break from the loud noises, bright lights and busy crowds to participate in sensory-friendly activities.
