Grab some friends and join Pride Sports League and Capital City Pride for “Let Love Serve,” our Des Moines Pride Volleyball Tournament! The tournament will take place on Sunday, June 1st from Noon-5:30pm at The Sands Volleyball Club.
Entry cost is $120 per team with proceeds to benefit Iowa Trans Mutual Aid. The format is two leagues: a recreation league and a competitive league, so players of all types can choose the best level to join in on the fun. The tournament will follow a Power Pools or Round Robin format depending on sign-ups.
Details:
Division B ā Social:
Teams who sign up for the social division should have some experience playing volleyball, but normally just play for fun. Players will be expected to have a basic understanding of the rules and an entry level to medium skill set, but the general focus is on getting the ball over the net and not on running plays. Spiking will be allowed in the social division. For current members of Pride Sports League, players who rank as level 1, 2, and 3 can choose this division.
Division A – Intermediate/Advanced:
Intermediate/Advanced players should have at least a couple years of previous experience on organized teams and may have played in some weekend tournaments. Players should have the fundamental skills in place and be able to demonstrate them on a consistent level. Spiking and running plays are allowed and encouraged. For current members of Pride Sports League, players who rank as level 3, 4, and 5 can choose this division.
Food and Drink:
A Food Truck will be on-site for purchase, and the Sands has a bar that will be open with both non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks. You may NOT bring your own drinks besides water bottles; you may bring your own snacks.
