Pride Walk
June 1 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

The Pride Walk will meet up at the Sculpture Park and proceed down Locust to the Iowa State Capitol. The Pride Walk is intended to open Pride Month by highlighting the work that still needs to be done. We certainly feel this here at home in Iowa, but it is not only here. This peaceful protest walk also highlights the fact that out of 193 countries in the world, there are still 70 countries where being LGBTQ+ is against the law. That is 1/3 of the world.
Brief speeches will be made before the walk and at the end of the walk by representatives from local organizations. Gather at the park at 6:00pm and the walk begins at 6:30pm. (The Walk will be escorted by the Des Moines Police to ensure all participants are protected from traffic on Locust and intersecting streets.)
