Open Position Descriptions
Finance Director: The Finance Director shall be responsible for financial records and books of
accounts and the manner in which such records and books are kept and reported. Maintain an itemized report of all funds received and spent on behalf of the organization. Submit a financial report for approval at each Board meeting. Pay all obligations as authorized by the Board in a timely manner, ensure all contract requirements for payment are met, ensure payment per invoice requirements are met, and all liabilities and outstanding invoices that are available are paid and up to date by the end of the close of the fiscal year. Prepare an annual financial report to be submitted at the Annual Meeting. Work with the Board to select an accountant to file federal and state tax returns. In addition, the Finance Director will:
- Serve on the Executive Committee
- Understand financial accounting for nonprofit organizations
- Serve as the chair of the Finance Committee
- Manage, with the Finance Committee, the Board’s review of and action related to the Board’s financial responsibilities
- Ensure that appropriate financial reports are made available to the board on a timely basis
- Present the annual budget to the Board for approval
- Review the annual audit and answer Board members’ questions about the audit
Director of Brand & Design: The Director of Brand & Design has responsibility and ownership of the design and branding of all CAPITAL CITY PRIDE DES MOINES events and activities collateral.
Director of Marketing & PR: The Director of Marketing & PR has responsibility and ownership of all CAPITAL CITY PRIDE DES MOINES Public Relations & Social Media communication channels. Additionally, works with the Executive Committee to define consistent voice, messaging, and presence.
Director of Community: The Director of Community has responsibility for all aspects of Community including planning, organizing, and running Community focused events and activities; growing relationships with community focused community partners and organizations; identifying other Community based needs of the board or community. Events include, but are not limited to: Family Feud, Drag Queen Bingo, Pride Walk, Broadway Sing Along, LGBTQ+ Comedy Club, Mr., Ms., Mx. Pride Pageant, Drag Brunch, PrideFest Friday Pool Event, Silent Disco, and Service Day at Adventureland.
Director of Education: The Director of Education has responsibility for all aspects of Education including planning, organizing, and running Education focused events and activities; growing relationships with education focused community partners and organizations; identifying other education-based needs of the board or community. Events include, but are not limited to: Speaker Series, Storyteller event, Intergenerational Panel Discussion, Pride Book Club and Varsity Pride.
Director of Health & Wellness: The Director of Health & Wellness has responsibility for all aspects of Health & Wellness including planning, organizing, and running Health & Wellness focused events and activities; growing relationships with Health & Wellness focused community partners and organizations; and identifying other Health & Wellness based needs of the board or community. Events include, but are not limited to: I-Cubs Pride Night, Menace Pride Night, Iowa Wild Pride Night, Iowa Wolves Pride Night, Pride Stride, Pride Yoga, Queens in the Kitchen, and Health and Wellness Zone.
